Life Lessons From a Recently MeMe'd Newbie

I had high expectations for this Christmas Day, but a MEME message was not on my list...Thanks Colleen for this introspective moment.

5 Random Things About MeMe:

I know how to move. I've lived in 17 different houses (this does not include college dorms, apartments etc.) -I did the corporate wife thing for many years, and can unpack and stage a 4000 sq ft. home right down to the linens on the beds in 24 hours-no sleep is included until it's done! Life Lesson No. 1: Tackle an overwhelming task one box at a time.

Last May I traveled alone to New York City for my son's graduation from Columbia University. My friend had a last minute emergency and was unable to go, so I boarded the plane thinking this is a bummer, but instead had a marvelous time for five days--spending some time with the graduate, some time taking in the sights, visiting the museums, walking in Central Park (I took an early morning carriage ride & breakfasted on coffee and croissants as we trotted along) and dining when and where I wanted. Like many things in life the actual experience was different than the original plan, but ever so much fun. Life Lesson No. 2: Plan B may be just as good as Plan A-maybe better.

From the age of six I wanted to be a teacher. After a few years of teaching I no longer wanted to be a teacher. Life Lesson No. 3: Changing your mind, or your life, is not a bad thing.

I fell in love four times after I got married. Those babies are now four wonderful adults, and I'm still in love with them! Life Lesson No. 4: Nothing trumps motherhood for me, but being a grandmother is pretty cool too!

My guilty pleasure and sinful indulgence: Red wine and dark chocolate-we're together every night. Don't get me wrong, I don't overdo it-one glass and a square or two is enough to satiate my desire. Life Lesson No. 5: Celebrate life whenever you have the chance. Work, play, the ups and the downs--little celebration, big celebrations. It's all good.

I'm sending out three more "gifts" this Christmas Day:

Brian Corwell Sterling Illinois Real Estate --Because we've discussed our composting histories.

Rebecca Savitski - Because I've never properly thanked her for featuring my post in her Week in Review selections.

Patricia Kennedy - What can I say? I'm one of her Newbies of the Week and a loyal follower of her every post!

If you've already been tagged, just send me to your post.

PS - When do I turn in the Newbie title?
