It's Raining Letters of Intent and Offers Today

A real estate agent's day can go from disaster to delight in a matter of minutes. The work day began with a rather lackluster meeting--more cutbacks, an invitation to share real estate war stories, and yes, the listing and sale board is not as full as it was in the good old days. I walked away thinking sales are down and so is the morale of more than a few agents.

I entered my office and said aloud,"OK, we're going to create our own good fortune today." I think I heard a slight snicker, but that was my son and he's caught me giving myself a pep talk on more than one occasion.

First order of business was to get out and preview some fresh new listings. A little fresh air, a little exercise, a snack or two and my enthusiasm for my work began to return. I couldn't wait to get back to the office and invite one client to see the new listing that matched her needs exceptionally well. Other clients received an email complete with photos of two listings I believe they will want to see. I was feeling better and definitely more optimistic after reassuring myself the sky was not falling. Little did I know it was about to begin to "rain."

Next, a last chance emailarrived regarding a home I showed last week. Two offers came in today and it is going, going, gone. Multiple offers are reminiscent of those heyday sale days of years gone by. A few of my fence sitters may be hopping off very soon.

Before I finished my late lunch another email with news of an impending offer on one of my commercial listings arrived. I was interrupted while gathering information for the prospective buyer by a phone call from an agent and she is structuring an offer on the same property.

As I was saying, an agent's day can change directions on a dime.
