What I'm Leaving Behind, and What I'm Taking With Me Into 2009

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of time." Dickens could have been describing my 2008 real estate habits.

My bad habits of 2008 that I plan to ditch before Jan. 1 2009:

Lose the Lookers: Honestly, even though gas prices are down, the free rides and hours of looking just have to end. I'm sorry, because I really like some of you guys. Maybe we can just do brunch or the Rose Bowl flea market some Sunday. I've decided you are a better friend than client. I don't think you'll need a suitcase anytime soon. Who knows, the way relationships change, maybe we'll get together again as agent and client. I'll be here when you're ready to make a commitment, until then we're friends.

Just say NO! Nancy Reagan was right. Even though I want to list your property, if we're not in the sell zone, I'll have to say no and walk away. It would be wrong to take a listing I know will not sell. I don't want to mislead you or misrepresent my abilities. I've worked some near miracles, but I can't sell your property for what it was worth in 2005! So don't pack those suitcases yet.

My good habits that I hope to make even better in 2009:

God Bless My SOI: Yes, my Sphere of Influence saved 2008. 75% of my business came from past clients or their referrals in 2008. They are the cornerstone of my business. I will take care of them and their real estate needs to the very best of my ability, and always with a smile and deep gratitude. So, Charles I'm working on getting your property taxes reduced, and Jim thank you for the recent referral, your friend will receive the same high level of service you did. You have my word, and I don't break promises. My valued clients, you know who you are, and for you I'm on call 24/7.

Blog Often: The pipeline for 2009 is looking good thanks to SOI referrals and AR leads. The points and rankings are on the rise, but I gauge the success of my actions by the results they generate. Let's just say I'm pleased enough to allocate more time to blogging and have plans for another blog in 2009.

So for information on the Palos Verdes Peninsula real estate inventory this will remain your "Go to blog." I hope you've bookmarked it, or better yet, subscribed, because I'm looking forward to another adventuresome year of selling real estate in Palos Verdes. Won't you join me for the ride? You may find the home you're looking for along the way.
