I keep my business plan simple and limited to one page. There is a production goal and five focus points to help me achieve the goal. This year, along with all the usual real estate suspects to increase production and productivity, I'm making attitude my number one focus. With the proper 'tude' in daily play everything else will fall into place.
We choose how we view the circumstances of both our professional and personal life. What color will your 2009 glasses be?
The macro view of the housing market is not pretty, but my little micro piece of the pie will offer up some outstanding opportunities during the coming year. I anticipate great deals on residential income properties, vacation and retirement homes, and my cash buyers are all members of my real estate royal court. Everybody loves cash, especially the banks.
I'm not waiting for January 1 to banish blame and anoint attitude as the ruler of my real estate fate, so here's an update on my real estate oportunities for the past 24 hours:
A 411 operator gave my number to a prospective investor. That's a first, but I'll take it and go to work finding a property that meets his needs.
At a holiday gathering a relative told me of his plans to buy a small ranch. The opportunity for a referral had me searching websites and LoopNet well into the night. I'm excited for him and will work diligently to locate the right piece of land and agent.
At the same gathering a past client said he has a co-worker who wants to purchase a home. We'll exchange the details tomorrow.
This morning I received an email from a client inquiring about a house I showed her several weeks ago. Yes, it's still available.
It's three days before Christmas and I have presents to wrap, but it's fantastic to also have clients to work with and business to conduct. In this unpredictable business there will always be challenges and disappointments, but I'm liking the view as my plan comes into focus.
Rose colored glasses may be my favorite accessory for 2009!
